25-10-2009; Half coat for Have You Honey
Have You Honey over came all the odds to take the not exceeding 28lbs Bend win at the Championships in Moreton-in-Marsh today.

The plucky one-year-old defied a run of poor trapping performances to lead the opposition home in decisive fashion in the first and second rounds of the competition. A third poor start in the final left owners, the Hogan family, looking on nervously as Honey trailed in third position going in to the first turn.

It appeared to all as though she would be blocked out through the bend but some commanding running found her on the inside at the turn, and from there she powered through to give herself a margin of two lengths heading on to the final straight. From then on it looked as though she would be run down by the second placed dog but she held on gamely to win by half a length.

Having finished second several times this season it is fantastic for Honey to have finally made it to the top step of the podium. Her win today means she has gained half-coat status whilst a second championship win will bring full-coat status (and a purple jacket with gold tassels).

Congratulations go to Emma, Gary, Ollie and Max for a well deserved win, and of course well done to Honey - Heart of England's newest ambassador!

24-10-2009; Three way battle for Season Finalé
Next weeks meeting sees the challenge for the Top Bitch title go down to the wire. With three dogs in the running it is anyones guess whom out of Cruz Campo, Colorado Flyer and Have You Honey will be going home victorious. Sue and John Large are currently in the hunt for double honours with Cruz Campo poised to take Top Bitch from kennel mate Colorado Flyer, who is subsequently romping away with the Top Vet. spoils. Only Have You Honey can ruin the party; with a six point defecit going into the final round and with only a maximum twelve points at stake, it could prove a tall order even for Saturday's Bend Champion!

03-05-2009; Bend Meeting
The coming Saturday will again be a bend meeting and the club will be hoping to build on the excellent turnout from last week. Please check in with Ann by 20:00 this Wednesday to ensure you are added to the race card.

02-05-2009; Honey, honey, how you thrill me...ah hah...
This week was definitely a week of change with a few unexpected faces upsetting the ethur. The first was a splendid Main Final win from the front for Fidget, who held off a hard finishing Casper Jack after the latter took an uncharacteristic tumble in the bend. The second was a tremendous maiden bend win for Cool Hand Luke, who came good on an impressive showing in the first round to win comfortably.

Elsewhere however it was business as usual as the indefatigable Have You Honey made it three wins on the trot to take this weeks heavy-weight crown. Whilst in the grand final showdown at the end of the day, 2008 Champion, Casper Jack, showed that experience prevails by becoming the only dog on the day to take the spoils off Have You Honey.

Other dogs to take to the bend well were Dave Cuttler's, Call Me Crystal and Just Flute who both came good in their final rounds to take their respective Final spoils.

25-04-2009; Bends Begin!
After a successful day setting up our bend course the club will now be making the switch over from straights for the next few months. If you want to provide your dog with more experience over a bend then give our club a go - I assure it will be well worth the trip.

18-04-2009; Colorado Flyer soars in first
Top spot in the championship is just desserts for Colorado Flyer, a dog who certainly made hay while the sun shone this weekend.

Defying the odds as a veteran and making best use of her veteran allowance has allowed the affable contender to knock stable-mate Cruz Campo from her lofty perch. Only time will tell if Colorado Flyer can hold on to her hard fought placing and with hot competition from the likes of the ever-consistent Monkey Business and the brutally quick Golden Wonder, it is a good job this isn't a betting sport and that I'm not a betting man!

Congratulations also go to Graham's Lucky Laddie and Cool Hand Luke who both passed through trialing and took part in their first full weekends racing this week. With both dogs showing early promise it will be interesting to watch their ascents up the Championship ranks.
